Prieto Agricultural Group promotes five basic aid programs
to its workers, which allow them to have a better lifestyle,
through the benefits that Fair Trade offers. For each
box of bananas exported workers receive a bonus added to their salary,
which is directly managed through the association formed
and administered by workers and employees..
Education.
It
covers various events of support to its worker's education
and to the community. Among these we can find:
There's
an agreement with the Superior Technical Institute
"José Ochoa León" in order to have a literacy program,
culmination of elementary school and high school,
depending on the case.
Another agreement with SECAP (Training Institute),
which counts with theoretical- practice workshops
on electricity, mechanics, handicrafts and cosmetology.
It
supports "Aurelio Prieto Muelas" school by paying
its teacher and bettering the kindergarten's infrastructure.
It
also supports the Smiles Association in Buenavista,
dedicated for children up to six years old.
Computer,
English, Mathematic classes to children from 7 to
12 years old.
Health.
As
a fundamental issue Prieto Agricultural Group covers
all services that have to do with prevention and medical
attention, as well as medicine, to improve its workers
quality of life.
Affiliation
of employees to the Ecuadorian Institute of Social
Security.
It supports Buenavista's group of Alcoholics Anonymous
and it's prevention conferences
It has implemented an office for family counseling.
It has an internal insurance that covers the whole
family and for single it includes parents too, for
the weekly rate of USD1.25

of the internal insurance includes:
Medical
office with the attention of a permanent doctor.
Drugstore with a complete stock of all kinds of
medicine.
Medicine cabinet in each farm.
Rehidration room.
There's also the project of becoming a joint office
with the Institute of Social Security, for the attention
of the community in general.
A Dentist's office with the attention of a dentist
along with the newest technology, equipment and
supplies.
Nutrition.
The
Association of Employees and Workers will run its own
mini market which allows them to stock up their associates
of the basic food groups at low rate prices.
A
mini market with a stock of more than 200 products of basic need
at low prices, we also supply products for
the community in general.
It provides the meat products of its own farms, pork
meat, African lamb, and cattle.
From time to time it also provides foods like: plantain,
papaya, yucca or cassava and orito bananas.
Culture
and Sports.
Workers and their children are motivated to participate
and to form part of theather groups and sport teams.
There is
a theater teacher, on saturday's and sunday's for all
the worker's children.
Internal Olympics, with the organization of various
events in which all employees participate.
In
the opening program of the olympics, teams made up
of both men and women participate in the following
activities:
Parade
of Uniforms.
An award to the best team and its queen.
Olympic Torch.
Organization of the "La Fuerza de la Unión" marathon
(Strength of Union), which covers approximately
5 kilometers.
Awards by categories, men, women and senior.
Housing.
The program is called "Familia Feliz" (Happy Family),
which helps employees to obtain a piece of land, or
to make improvements or build their own home.
The program withholds a USD 4,000.00 bonus, which
is used to buy terrain, improve or build your home,
and it is issued to those with the largest amount
of years to those with minimum a seven year period
of working with us
